Enhancing Supplier Partnership

HK Electric works in partnership with our suppliers for mutual benefits. We share our values and vision with our suppliers in the operation of our business and supporting the sustainable development of the community. We believe in the importance of encouraging our staff and suppliers to adhere to a high standard of integrity when conducting business. This Code of Practice for Suppliers (the "Code") outlines the standards related to ethics, human and labour rights, health and safety, environment protection and climate action, and cybersecurity for the domestic and international suppliers, contractors, and consultants (herein collectively noted as "Suppliers") of HK Electric.

Suppliers and their business partners in their supply chain are expected to follow the Code as well as to communicate it with their respective employees. Furthermore, suppliers are encouraged to report their Corporate Social Responsibility performance.

Suppliers should pursue the following ethical standards for all business transactions, including:

  • Compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
  • Respect for Intellectual Property Rights;
  • Non-disclosure of confidential information;
  • Fair business and competition, and anti-collusion; and
  • Prevention of bribery or conflict of interest.

Integrity and Governance

A good governance system is vital for our suppliers to help sustain public confidence in HK Electric's missions. We therefore would introduce to them the service of the Corruption Prevention Advisory Service (CPAS), a specialised unit in the Corruption Prevention Department of ICAC dedicated to providing tailor-made, free and confidential advice on system control in common business areas. Our suppliers could browse CPAS website and also subscribe to CPAS e-news.

  • Child and forced labour is unacceptable in its operations;
  • Wages and working hours should meet requirements set by local laws;
  • Anti-discrimination policies should be in place and adhered to;
  • No harsh or inhumane treatment;
  • Freedom of association should be supported; and
  • Support of fair-trade products.

Health and Safety

Suppliers should implement an effective management system to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy workplace in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Occupational health and safety policies should be in place to ensure the good health and safety of employees. Appropriate health and safety training should also be provided.

Environmental Protection and Climate Action

Suppliers should take precautions against climate change, encourage practices to conserve natural resources and to improve the environment, these efforts should include:

  • Implementing environmental policies;
  • Preventing pollution and reducing use of natural resources;
  • Minimizing waste and re-using materials;
  • Adopting eco-friendly alternatives;
