Energy-efficient Community Subsidy Programme
HK Electric provides subsidies for business premises to implement low-carbon living and/or decarbonisation projects that enable the premises users to adopt low-carbon lifestyle, embrace energy efficiency/decarbonisation and improve indoor environment and/or bring social benefits.
Eligible Projects
Turnkey retrofitting, upgrading or new installation of energy-efficient/decarbonisation-related electrical facilities, equipment, installations or appliances for kitchen, laundry or water heating, or household electrical appliances for Transitional Housing Project at the eligible premises listed below.
Eligible Premises
Premises located within the supply territory of HK Electric and are operated by registered customer of a HK Electric's Non-Residential Tariff and Maximum Demand Tariff electricity account (excluding electricity accounts of temporary power supply or the HKSAR Government), which are either:
Category 1: Eligible premises operated by non-profit-making NGOs for provision of education, community or social welfare services; Transitional Housing Project; non-government kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, higher education institutions, or associated student facilities.
Category 2: Eligible premises other than Category 1 premises.
Subsidy Amount
Category 1 Eligible Premises – Full subsidy capped at HK$500,000 per premises or per Transitional Housing Project
Category 2 Eligible Premises – Full subsidy capped at HK$300,000 per premises
Application Process
Submit application form and the required documents.
HK Electric to vet application and carry out pre-project inspection.
Award contract upon HK Electric's approval and complete installation.
HK Electric to disburse the subsidy to the designated electricity account after satisfactory post-project inspection.
Smart to Care Subsidy Programme
HK Electric provides subsidies for implementation of gerontechnology or smart technology projects at eligible premises in HK Electric's supply territory, which provide an energy-efficient, safe, comfortable and/or convenient environment for the premises users.
Eligible Premises - Full subsidy capped at HK$300,000 per eligible premises.
Eligible Premises
Premises operated for provision of caring, rehabilitation or residential services to the elderly, children or persons with disabilities.
Transitional housing operated by non-profit-making NGOs.
Eligible Projects
Turnkey implementation of gerontechnology or smart technology equipment/systems at the eligible premises listed above.
Application Process
Submit application form and the required documents.
HK Electric to vet application and carry out pre-project inspection.
Award contract upon HK Electric's approval and complete installation.
HK Electric to disburse the subsidy after satisfactory post-project inspection.
Energy-efficient Equipment Subsidy Programme
HK Electric provides subsidies for retrofitting of energy-efficient equipment.
Eligible Premises
Premises within HK Electric's supply territory and covered by the service address of a registered HK Electric's Non-Residential Tariff or Maximum Demand Tariff electricity account (excluding electricity accounts of temporary power supply or the HKSAR Government), where energy audit has been conducted by HK Electric under the Smart Power Energy Audit Scheme of the 2019-2033 Scheme of Control Agreement (SCA) or the Energy Audit Scheme of the 2009-2018 SCA before the start of the projects.
Eligible Projects
Turnkey retrofitting of the following energy-efficient equipment at the eligible premises listed above.
- LED light bulb / LED downlight / LED light tube / LED strip / LED panel
- Window-type (i.e. single package type) or split-type air conditioner with Grade 1 Energy Label
- High-energy efficient air-conditioning system NOT under the Mandatory Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme, such as unitary air-conditioners, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, energy-efficient air-cooled chillers, water-cooled chillers, etc.
Subsidy Amount
Half subsidy capped as follows:
- Each Eligible Premises is subject to an overall cap of HK$150,000
- Each LED light bulb/downlight is capped at HK$20
- Each LED tube/light strip/panel light is capped at HK$60
- Each air-conditioner with Grade 1 energy label (under MEELS) is capped at HK$2,500
- Each high-energy efficient air-conditioning system not under MEELS is capped at HK$10,000
Application Process
Joined HK Electric's Smart Power Energy Audit service.
Submit application form and the required documents within 6 months after retrofitting of the energy-efficient equipment (the Project).
Conduct joint post-project inspection upon HK Electric satisfied with the preliminary assessment.
HK Electric to vet the application and disburse the approved subsidy to the successful applicant's designated electricity account.
Energy-efficient Appliances Subsidy Programme
Eligible households living in HK Electric's supply territory may apply for a one-off subsidy up to HK$5,000 for:
Eligibility
- HK Electric Concessionary Tariff customers,
- Households living in transitional housing,
- "N have-nots households” or households facing financial difficulties, which is recommended by NGO or District Councillor,
- Households (including tenants of sub-divided units) with a member being a beneficiary of one of the following schemes administered by the HKSAR Government:
- Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Scheme,
- Normal Disability Allowance,
- Higher Disability Allowance,
- Old Age Living Allowance,
- Working Family Allowance Scheme,
- School Textbook Assistance Scheme, or
- Kindergarten and Child Care Centre Fee Remission Scheme.
