Trainee Technician II

Introduction

The training programme last for three years. During the training period, the Trainee Technicians II will receive a series of technical training and attend non-technical courses, for example, on health, safety and environmental awareness, communication skills, and computer applications, etc. Under the guidance by his/her tutor, each trainee will receive on-the-job coaching to develop technical skills and gain hands-on experience in electricity installation, cable works jointing and electrical fitting.

Upon completion of the programme, they will be appointed as Assistant Technician. If they pass the relevant trade tests or authorisation assessments and with excellent work performance, they may receive special salary adjustments or be promoted to higher positions such as technicians, senior technicians or even engineers.

Programme Structure

The three-year training programme is established under The Apprenticeship Ordinance and Regulation, and recognised by the Director of Apprenticeship.

Career Development

Entry Requirements

The applicant for Trainee Technician II Programme should have:

Completed at least Form 3 of secondary education; and
Completed the course(s) below under the college or training centre of Vocational Training Council (VTC):
- Basic Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering; or
- A one-year Diploma Programme of Vocational Education (Electrical Engineering); or
- The first year of a three-year Diploma Programme of Vocational Education (Electrical Engineering)
