With Hong Kong's food and beverages industry focusing more on green management and energy efficiency, HK Electric is showcasing the environmental benefits of electric kitchens at the biennial trade show HOFEX 2013 opening today (7 May 2013). Visitors can experience how electric cooking equipment will help save energy and operating costs, while enhancing occupational health and safety by creating a safer and more comfortable environment to work in.
The four-day event involves more than 1,900 exhibitors, making it one of the largest of such events in the region. Opening HK Electric's booth today were the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor Chan Ka-keung, GBS, JP; Chairman of Hong Kong Tourism Board, Dr. Peter Lam Kin-ngok; and Managing Director of HK Electric, Mr. Wan Chi-tin.
Themed on "Electric Kitchens – A New Trend for Success", the Company's booth displays both the modern and the traditional kitchens through the use of a time tunnel, allowing visitors to experience how electric kitchens can help restaurants save energy and costs, improve working environment and streamline processes.
Being put on display are the latest electric kitchen facilities such as the new induction low range made of highly rigid materials, energy recovery system and the new-generation electric steam cabinet. A series of live cooking demonstrations will also be staged to prepare some of the most delectable local delicacies using electric cooking equipment.
Mr. Arthur Wong Yuk-keung, General Manager (Group Commercial) said: "Electric kitchen facilities possess a number of advantages over traditional kitchens as it keeps the flavour of dishes while reducing emissions, heat waste and noise pollution, creating a more comfortable working environment for staff."
Apart from being one of the exhibitors at HOFEX 2013, HK Electric is also the exclusive sponsor of one of the industry's top events – the Hong Kong International Culinary Classic 2013, which aims to support the nurturing of chefs for the future. Contestants in this competition will be using electric cooking facilities to create dishes of international standards.
HOFEX 2013 is being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 7-10 May 2013. Visitors are welcome to visit the HK Electric booth at 1A-530 and 1A-630.
